Students and scholars, in general, need to write. They need to write papers, articles, books, book chapters, theses and dissertations. The purpose of this book is to provide students, at both the undergraduate and graduate level, with some guidance on how to write theses and dissertations in the social sciences. We wrote this book because we thought that students, regardless of how well they write, could learn to write better.

Riccardo Pelizzo, born in Verona, lives in Nur-Sultan where is an associate professor and deputy dean for research in the Graduate School of Public Policy at Naszarbayev University.

Abel Kinyondo is a senior lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam, where he lives and teaches.
